Flower of Life,
A Javascript Demo

The Flower of Life, a pattern generated from overlapping circles, shows up in many ancient cultures and is a fundamental subject in the study of sacred geometry. These patterns can be drawn by compass alone, without needing to use a straightedge. Leading to many fascinating geometric insights, the patterns, when viewed in a three dimensional context, contain all five of the Platonic solids.

With the aid of a computer, a mathematical algorithm can be used to draw a two dimensional representation of the Flower of Life pattern and the associated Platonic solids. The interactive demo to the right implements this algorithm using a Javascript computer program.

To step through the demo click on the forward button (>) to the right. Select "Rotations" to see how patterns are constructed using overlapping circles.
